Phabulous graduate student Ashika Capirala was selected as an EAPS Science Leadership Fellow! Ashika will develop "modular teaching resources integrating the history of science in the EAPS curriculum." Congrats and thank you Ashika!!

PHaB Lab went to the Kentucky Derby!  Graduate students Émilie Laflèche, Ashika Capirala, Haleigh Brown, and Giovanni Bacon all presented posters at the Exoplanets in our Backyard III workshop in Louisville, Kentucky. EAPS Prof Ben Pearce and his group were also there!

Phabulous graduate student Émilie Laflèche attended the Habitable Worlds Observatory Face-to-Face meeting in Rochester, NY! Émilie presented a poster about detecting biogenic seasonality in atmospheric composition, a biosignature, with HWO.

Phabulous graduate students Émilie Laflèche and Haleigh Brown were selected for Purdue's "Leading Women to Space Careers" program 2024 cohort. They traveled to Houston to attend the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Gala and will participate in several events throughout the year.

PI Olson presented her tenure talk at the EAPS Department Colloquium. EAPS profs Sori, Bramson, Bryant, and Delph showed up in style. Boiler up!

PHaB Lab went to a castle in Santander, Spain! Phabulous graduate students Ashika Capirala and Émilie Laflèche were selected to attend an astrobiology summer school hosted by NASA and ESA. They also visited the K-T boundary!

PHaB Friend Myles Edwards won 2nd place in the AbSciCon Student Poster Competition! Myles is a graduate student investigating the origin of life in Purdue's chemistry department. Congratulations Myles!

PHaB Lab attended AbSciCon in Providence, RI!  Graduate student Kyle Batra gave a talk and Haleigh Brown presented a poster. Ashika Capirala and Émilie Laflèche both gave two presentations--and they additionally chaired an awesome session. We met up with many PHaB friends, including Purdue graduate student Myles Edwards, Penn State graduate student Adam Stone, and future PHaB Lab member Tobi Hammond!

PI Olson went on European adventures!  Stephanie traveled to the International Space Science Institute (ISSI) in Bern, Swizterland to give a talk about exoplanet life detection and then to Vienna, Austria to speak at the European Geophysical Union General Assembly about the origin of life. While at EGU, she also spoke at a press conference and enjoyed the biergartens with EAPS professor Jon Delph!

PHaB Lab went to the Olympics!  PHaB Lab gathered along with EAPS professor Roger Bryant's group for a day of competition at our annual PHaB Olympiad. We remain undefeated at giant Jenga.
